Professor Parrino said that although 2008 was judged to be one of the worst financial years ever, 6,000 mergers and acquisitions were transacted across the United States that year, and 2,000 transactions of M&As were recorded in the Northeast. Mergers and acquisitions are here to stay; they are an inherent part of the modern business’ growth and its development strategies.

What drives merger demand? A strong economy, a robust debt market, a bull stock market, private equity demand and low interest rates.
