AchieveNext Buys Diversity and Inclusion Business Strategy Firm in Latest Deal

January 7, 2020 ( AchieveNext, a Wayne-based career and corporate services firm, has acquired its third company in the past four years.

Financial terms were not disclosed for the latest deal involving Trellis Consulting, a business strategy firm focused on diversity and inclusion (D&I). Dresher-based Trellis is led by CEO Robyn Pollack, who founded the company in 2016 after spending 20 years as a bankruptcy lawyer at Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr. The firm assists corporate clients with the recruitment and retention of talent and clients, prevention and avoidance of D&I issues and efficiently using resources.

AchieveNext was founded by CEO Nick Araco Jr. and fellow managing directors Greg Wood and Todd White in 2016. All three are former RSM McGladrey partners.

It offers career services, board governance, M&A readiness and risk monitoring services to North American mid-market companies and organizations. In addition, AchieveNext manages executive and professional communities, including the CFO Alliance, that can be leveraged for talent and expertise.

AchieveNext grew quickly by acquiring career management and executive coaching firm Kelleher Associates in 2017 and sales team training firm Relational Capital Group in 2018.

Araco said after speaking with stakeholders, AchieveNext found that there was a heightened interest in D&I consulting. He was soon introduced to Pollack and saw a difference between her firm and others.

“I found the idea of a bankruptcy lawyer running a D&I firm very interesting,” Araco said. “I think a lot of other firms that do the same thing are what I would call soft, because they are not tying together diversity and inclusion with revenue growth. Robyn’s team does that. She won’t take a client if they aren’t looking at D&I as a way to grow business.”

AchieveNext and Trellis merged on Dec. 20 but waited to make the announcement until after the holiday season. All three Trellis employees will relocate to AchieveNext’s offices — about 5,000 square feet — in the Glenhardie Corporate Center on Drummers Lane in Wayne. Araco said the firm now has 19 employees and is exploring adding more space at the same building. Pollack will join Araco, Wood and White as a managing director at AchieveNext.
